Corporate Responsibility

Community Investment Strategy

SES believe that community investment is a central part of our business, by supporting and developing long term relationships with charitable organistions we are committed to helping create a brighter future.

We want our employees to feel proud to be working for SES and we actively encourage individuals within our organisation to volunteer to support our charity partners.

Our reputation is of great importance; in order to maintain and develop our reputation it is necessary for us to act in a responsible manner. We believe that community investment is an essential element of this.

SES has chosen charitable organisations that we believe will have a direct improvement on the environment, sustainability, unemployment, education and training.

Supporting local government, SES will be carrying out a number of SHAD events throughout the South West in relation to asbestos management and awareness seminars.

We also work closely with our partners / clients within the social housing sector, attending community days where we are actively involved with voluntary work.

Environment, Sustainability & Education within the Community

SES is a committed partner to the Tree Appeal planting 100 trees within schools & colleges throughout the UK.

We want to encourage schools to make the most of their grounds by planting trees. This helps create woodland habitat, increases bio-diversity and, most importantly, provides an excellent learning resource.

Unemployment & Training

SES are delighted to work with the Construction Youth Trust, we believe that by supporting young adults in finding work  we will have a lasting impact within the communities in which they live.

We are also committed to raising the dangers of asbestos related illness to young adults entering the construction industry by offering free asbestos training days.

Community Days

SES encourages staff to support volunteering activities and allows staff to undertake such activities within company time.

This may consist of being actively involved with charity activities or raising awareness of asbestos through seminars.

Local Authorities

During 2010 SES carried out free asbestos seminars throughout the South West for a number of Local Authorities. Further seminars are planned for 2011.

Cash Donations

We support our charitable partners such as Mesothelioma UK with financial assistance which can either take the form of funding for specific projects and appeals, or regular contributions.

The budget for this is agreed on an annual basis by our Board of Directors.

Measuring

SES measures our impact by assessing the following:

  • Money given to key charity partners
  • Money donated to other causes
  • Sponsorship of staff charitable activities
  • Employee Volunteering
  • Donations in kind
  • Money raised by staff for their chosen charities
