South Devon College, Energy Centre
Chilled Services, Heating & Ventilation

Shield Insulation successfully secured the contract to undertake the thermal insulation within South Devon College’s prestigious new Energy Centre. The South West Energy Centre (SWEC) was created as a hub for the ever-developing and expanding renewable energy sector which pioneers technologies and techniques in Devon.

The project ran successfully within the timeframe set by Totus Engineering, from June 2013 through to August 2013, ready for the start of the academic year.

We demonstrated the wide range of capability offered by Shield. The pipework in the plant room required insulating with Isogenotek, finished with colour-coding and end-capping. Bespoke removable jackets were made for the valves and flanges to ensure ease of on-going maintenance and use.

The external ductwork was insulated using foil faced duct wrap which was then clad with bespoke sheet casing, secured using tek screws. Upon completion, coloured ID triangles were applied to identify the specific services.

Within the main building, we undertook the insulation of chilled services, hot water services and heating and ventilation. Isogenotek, Isogenopak and foil-faced insulation were the chosen finishes, all banded with colour-coded identification bands.
