In 2010 Shield Environmental Services completed works on the installation of new iroko timber decking on the research ship CEFAS Endeavour.
The project required specialist skills and a project team capable of planning and coordinating this challenging contract. The original decking timber was held with stud bolts and black tar to the deck. Following several trial sections the best process of removal was agreed and the decking removed.
One of the Shield Marine goals was to save as much of the timber as possible. The majority of timber was saved, and later used by local traditional boatyards.
