History
Shield Insulation was established in 1979 by brothers Jon and Phillip House, predominately specialising in thermal insulation to the public and private sector. Following the increase in legislation regarding asbestos removal, Shield soon established itself as a market leader within the removal industry. It was subsequently decided to change the company name from Shield Insulation to Shield Environmental Services as this more fully reflected the type of work that we were requested to undertake.
Shield Environmental has grown steadily over the last 30 years and has changed its work practices to meet the demands of this highly regulated industry, we have always looked at ways to improve on our performance whilst ensuring Health and Safety is an integral part of our service.
Branches strategically placed throughout the UK enable us to provide national coverage whilst maintaining competitive prices and ensuring projects are managed to the highest standards.
We have a regular and varied client base, including Local/District Councils, Health Authorities, Housing Associations, Ministry of Defence, Higher Education Facilities, Food Processing, Breweries, Pharmaceuticals, Petrochemical Plants, Industrial, Power Generation Industries and Marine.
Shield Environmental Services Ltd (Surveying Division) is an independent business unit of Shield Environmental Services providing impartial asbestos surveys of premises. We are a Type C inspection body and hold UKAS accreditation to ISO/IEC 17020 (EN45004) for the surveying of asbestos in premises; this ensures our Asbestos Surveying Division meets the exacting standards for Quality Assurance, Technical Competence and Site Safety required by legislation and clients alike.
Shield Environmental Services are an approved UKATA (United Kingdom Asbestos Training Association) training provider; we also offer bespoke training to meet our client’s requirements to include construction related training such as PASMA, manual handling etc.
Although the asbestos related industry has been the largest focus for our company in recent years we still have a thriving Insulation Division, with many of our original employees still working for us. We believe this is testament to Shield’s commitment to its staff.
Our depth of technical and local market knowledge, together with our proven track record in delivering some of the largest and most challenging local projects are testament to consistently providing and investing in the appropriate management and site teams. We aim to deliver an unrivalled experience by improving our performance through innovation, developing new technology and through working safely with our partner organisations to achieve consistent market growth.
All our site teams are fully qualified and are regularly audited to ensure Health and Safety is an integral part of delivering our quality service.
